The development of the final work

To help us develop the final work, we need to choose three works from the 17 tasks and develop further. So I chose the following three prompts:

Create a disguise for.....
Delete something real
Tell a story in 5 or 7 images

1. At this phase, we are going to choose three works from the previous 17 tasks and take off the contexts. This is the rough note about extending my works into stories. 2. I ended up choosing the 7-image story to develop further as my final work of the communication course. At this phase, we supposed to follow a few prompts (I listed all the prompts at the bottom of the left page) so it can help us to think about what else we can do with the final work. The right page is the sketch about making the original sequential (one of the prompts I chose).

Create a disguis for...

I tried to connect the concept of pregnant woman to the function of the fire alarm, if the fire alarm goes off, it would be like pregnant woman giving birth. Moreover, if all the fire alarms in hall go off, then it seems we all live in the emergency room....It gives me full of horror & scared film vibes.

Delete something real

To be honest this is fully developed. I was thinking about this could be one of the prop in the film, or just leave this as an installation, so it has its mystery left.

Tell a story in 5 or 7 images

This is the thing I chose to develop into final work since the content has already been created and now it's only about what kind of way I want to present this story.

On weekend, we were told to choose a few prompts to help us develop the work further in various ways(such as Make your work sequential, Make your work only in letterforms, etc.)

Thinking about final work, I want to make animation but I don't have digital drawing pad (or tablet). Under this circumstance, I think up the better way to present my work — Flipbook. Flipbook not only allows me to make the story (illustration) into animation, but interact with the audience who flips the book.

So I decide to present the story through flipbook. And I use postcard-sized paper to draw every single scene. I received the advice from my tutor that it would be faster and more effective if I plan out how many papers I am going to use for each different scenes, and draw the first page of each scenes, then draw the rest of the scenes quickly. So I followed the advice and also put the number at the corner just to ensure the process is all in my control.
